The Improvised Book Club will also be performing tomorrow at a as of yet TBA time (we’ll keep you updated).

Conspire will be selling a nice array of smoothies and vegetarian and vegan breakfast and lunch dishes throughout the day!

If you’d like to come be a helping volunteer for the UPC during the event please arrive at 10:30 AM! We’ll need help with set up and clean up and general supervision and assistance during the event.

We can’t wait to see what kinds of zines, comics, books, and art people sell at this year’s UPC!

wheeeee!!!!!!!!!!

The Improvised Book Club at the UPC!!!

17 Mar

Ok so we’ve got music and readings planned for this year’s UPC but we’ve also got some other very special entertainment planned for you as well!  The Improvised Book Club will be performing at the UPC on 3/26/11 at Conpsire! Don’t know what they are/do? Well read this nifty writeup:

The Improvised Bookclub is an ensemble of some of Phoenix’s best improvisers. Each month they will read a different book and then bring it to the stage for dicussion. They will talk about themes, symbolism, author’s writing style and more and then create completely made up scenes about the material. Have a book report due or just forgot to read the book for your own book club? Let The Improvised Bookclub do the work for you while you look like a literary genius to your friends and teachers.

How cool is that? They combine our love for performance and literature in one fell swoop! Don’t miss this!

The Pods have been added to the UPC lineup!

16 Mar

We’re so excited to have them on the bill!

Check out their music here and come to the UPC on 3/26/11 from 11-6pm to them play live!

Other acts in the lineup include Jessie Williams, Anna Moncada, and The Improv Book Club!

Entry to the UPC is free! Don’t miss it!
